Spring is for Cider Sippin'

Albemarle Ciderworks - Arkansas Black - This bone dry cider is the perfect accompaniment to a warm day and our artisan cheese board.

Coyote Hole Cider -  HPA - Introducing our newest cider to our line up. Coyote Hole just opened their doors last May and have been rocking out great crowd pleasing ciders ever since. Enjoy this refreshing cider that is infused with hops for a fun and interesting twist to the common cider.

Blue Bee Cider - Mill Race Bramble - Served on Draft, this cider is infused with raspberries and blueberries. Light pink in color, fresh and fruity on the nose with a dry and pleasant finish.

Potter's Farmhouse Dry - Probably one of the most sought after ciders in the state. Potter's is truly delicous, off dry and full of body, this cider will have you coming back for more!

BUBBLES...All of these bubbles will have you raising your glass.

Barboursville Sparkling Rose-A collaboration with our founder’s Tenuta Il Bosco estate in Oltrepò Pavese, this sparkling wine is created in themetodo classico and is 100% Pinot Noir of DOCG designation. A true rosé, the radiant color is imparted by brief contact with the skins, after pressing. Ideal for celebrations as well as for fine companionship with dining, the Cuvée 1814 honors the date of Thomas Jefferson’s design for Governor Barbour’s landmark mansion at our estate, a Virginia historic landmark.

Valley Road Sparkling Rose- A combination of several red grape varieties including Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Tannat, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from vineyards around the Commonwealth of Virginia. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with gaining in neutral French Oak after fermentation. This wine offers just a hint of sweetness (0.2% Residual Sugar).  Perfect for sipping on a warm afternoon, or to make any day a special occasion

Thibaut Janison  Blanc de Chardonnay, Virginia Sparkling Wine- Claude Thibaut and Manuel Janisson bring to this sparkling wine generations of tradition from the Champagne Region of France. They have captured the flavors and essence of the Virginia Terroir. The Cuvee, made of 100% Chardonnay from the Monticello Appellation, has vibrant aromas of pear and ripe apples; the taste is perfectly balanced, crisp and refreshing.

Barron Ridge Sparkling Vidal Blanc -We're the first to get this amazing sparkling on draft. Typically only found at their tasting room, this sparkling is rich, creamy and full of life!!

  Worth the stop!
"We decided to stop here on our way back from Monticello to DC. The property and views are gorgeous. We had a delicious lunch with a glass of wine sitting out on the terrace overlooking the view. We ended up buying a bottle of the local wine, as well as a plant from the nursery.  Very enjoyable!"  Trip Advisor Review

These blackberry scones are available at The Market at Grelen on Saturdays and Sunday. However, if you just can't wait until the weekend for these delectable treats, Chef Matt has agreed to share his scone recipe with you all! So what are you waiting for.....get to baking!

Chef Matt's Blackberry Scone Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup + 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 lb. (1 stick) unsalted butter, frozen
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 6 - 8 oz. fresh blackberries (placed in freezer for 15 minutes)
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 400ºF.

Mix flour, salt, 1/3 cup sugar, and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Using a box grater, grate the butter into the flour mixture. Stir well, then add the berries and mix lightly.

Beat egg into sour cream. Add wet ingredients to dry mixture and force together with a fork. If mixture is too dry to form a ball add a little sour cream until dough forms, but is not sticky.

Press into a ball and lay out on a floured surface. Coat the underside with flour and flip over. Roll the ball out into a 2" thick disk. Cut into 8 wedges.
Place wedges on a baking sheet, sprinkle the tops with the remaining sugar and bake approximately 15 minutes, until golden brown.
